How to Join SDCKT
How do athletes join SDCKT?

Can I join at any time?
Yes! We are a year-round program which you can join at any time.
What ages and skill levels are eligible?
We have different programs for every age group from 8 years old and up, hitting every skill level. SDCKT supplies life jackets but paddlers should be able to swim and be comfortable in water.
What should I wear/bring?
Wear what you would normally wear to the beach: swim suit, rash guard, shorts, t-shirt etc. Also bring a towel, extra clothes, running shoes, snack & water.
What equipment is required?
All equipment is provided by the club and you will have the chance to try out different boats including Olympic sprint Canoes & Kayaks, Surfskis (Ocean Kayaks) and Stand-Up Paddleboards.
What uniform is required?
No uniform is required unless you compete for SDCKT at a regional or national competition.
How much are the fees?
We have different types of memberships to accommodate beginners, racing, and adult members. Scholarships and financial assistance are available for eligible athletes. See our Programs page.

Where are practices?
Youth Aquatic Center

Directions:
When you come onto Fiesta Island in East Mission Bay - stay right at the first fork, and again at the second fork where there is a gated parking lot that says Youth Aquatic Center on it - please open the gate and close it after you drive in. Drive to the end of the parking lot by the large building. Park and walk to the right of the building. The building will be on your left and the water will be on the right. Our boathouse is at the end of the fence. NO dogs are allowed inside the gate.

We are a year-round paddle program.

Guest Paddlers
Members of SDCKT are welcome to bring friends down for a day of paddling. If you have been invited to paddle, please complete a SDCKT waiver. You MUST be accompanied by a SDCKT member during all paddling sessions or attend one of the SDCKT set practices.
Out of town paddlers are welcome to join us at any of our scheduled practices. Contact us.

How can I support SDCKT?
Fundraising -- The team actively fundraises for capital purchases (boats, chase boats, etc.) and large events.
Volunteer hours -- The club is non-profit and run by volunteers. All families are expected to participate.
